Dog owners – seasonal beach restrictions end tomorrow

Dogs playing

From Thursday 1st October, dogs will once again be allowed on a number of North East beaches where summer restrictions have been in place since 1st May.

Beaches where full access resumes include:

North Tyneside

• Whitley Bay – south of Panama Gardens

• Tynemouth Longsands

• King Edward’s Bay

• Cullercoats Bay

South Tyneside

• Sandhaven Beach

• Roker Beach

• Seaburn Beach

Northumberland

• Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

• Blyth Beach

• Amble Little Shore Beach

• Ross Black Sands – although dogs must still be kept on a lead or at heel because of wildlife and grazing livestock

Most beaches in County Durham are dog-friendly all year round.

So if you’ve been waiting to get back to the coast with your dog, the seasonal bans finish at the end of today.
