Dramatic footage captured by Steven Lomas Photography shows an Emirates passenger aircraft attempting to land at Newcastle International Airport as Storm Boelo causes widespread disruption across the North East.
An Emirates Airbus A350 was unable to complete a landing at Newcastle International Airport on Sunday 25 October 2026, as strong winds from Storm Boelo continued to affect flights across the region.
The aircraft, operating Emirates flight EK35 from Dubai to Newcastle, was filmed approaching the airport runway in challenging weather conditions.
The footage, captured by Steven Lomas of Steven Lomas Photography, shows the large passenger aircraft approaching the runway with its landing gear lowered as it prepares to touch down.
However, the aircraft was unable to complete its landing attempt amid the difficult conditions.

Watch: Emirates aircraft approaches Newcastle Airport during Storm Boelo
Storm Boelo causes flight disruption at Newcastle Airport
The incident comes as Storm Boelo brings powerful winds and unsettled weather to Newcastle upon Tyne and the wider North East.
Newcastle International Airport has confirmed that several aircraft have been diverted to alternative airports because of the conditions.
Among the affected services was an easyJet flight travelling from Palma de Mallorca to Newcastle, which was diverted to London Gatwick after encountering difficult landing conditions.
Strong crosswinds and sudden gusts can make landing particularly challenging, even for experienced flight crews operating modern aircraft.
When conditions are unsuitable for a safe landing, pilots can discontinue an approach and climb away from the runway in a procedure known as a go-around.
This is a recognised aviation safety procedure and does not necessarily indicate an emergency.
The subsequent movements of Emirates flight EK35 following the unsuccessful approach have not yet been independently confirmed by Great Park Gazette.
Strong winds continue across Newcastle and the North East
Storm Boelo, the second named storm of the 2026/27 season, has brought significant disruption across northern parts of the UK.
The Met Office has reported wind gusts of 60–70mph across some affected areas, with even stronger gusts recorded in exposed locations.
Across the North East, the severe conditions have caused fallen trees, power cuts and transport disruption.
A yellow weather warning for wind remains in force across Newcastle upon Tyne until 9pm on Sunday 25 October.
Residents of Newcastle Great Park and surrounding neighbourhoods are advised to remain cautious, particularly when travelling or spending time outdoors.
Great Park Gazette previously highlighted the potential impact of the storm on the local area in its article, Storm Boelo set to hit Newcastle Great Park this weekend.
Passengers advised to check flight information
Anyone travelling through Newcastle International Airport is advised to check the latest status of their flight directly with their airline or the airport.
Further disruption remains possible while strong winds continue.
