Newcastle mourns one of its own – Benjamin “PAC” Satterley dies aged 40

Very sad news this morning as Newcastle-born professional wrestler Benjamin Satterley, known around the world as PAC and formerly as Adrian Neville in WWE, has died at the age of just 40.

He was ours – a Geordie who went from Newcastle to performing on some of the biggest wrestling stages in the world.

Benjamin began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to build an international career spanning more than two decades.

Wrestling fans will know him best as:

PAC in All Elite Wrestling (AEW)

Adrian Neville / Neville in WWE

He competed in WWE between 2012 and 2018 before joining AEW in 2019, where he became one of the company’s established stars and held multiple championships.

AEW confirmed his death, paying tribute to his “innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability” and sending condolences to his family, friends and fans.

His final match took place in Chicago just a day before his death, where he faced AEW National Champion Andrade.

After the match, the two shook hands and Benjamin later appeared again during the event.

No cause of death has been announced.

Tributes have been pouring in from wrestling fans around the world, many sharing memories of watching him throughout his WWE, NXT and AEW career.

Whatever wrestling promotion you followed, there was always something special about seeing a lad from Newcastle making his name on the world stage.

From Newcastle upon Tyne to WrestleMania and arenas around the world – he represented our city at the very highest level of professional wrestling.

Thoughts are with Benjamin’s family, friends, colleagues and everyone who followed his career.
